Look what I got!

My Cascade Eco Wool arrived yesterday, from Yarns Online.

These hanks are huge! I got colour 8014.
For the Aussies, here’s a comparison.

Thats a 250g skein of Cascade Eco Wool, a 100g skein of Cascade 220 and a 50g ball of Cleckheaton Country Silk.
I told you, it’s huge!
Here’s a rabbit for comparison.

Yeah, the rabbit is huge as well!!
The Eco wool is a bit thicker than the Cascade220, knitting up at 14sts = 10cm, but it’s softer than I expected, and I think it would make a nice jumper, too.
Anyway, I’m using mine for the Hemlock Ring Blanket. I worked on it yesterday, and got up to Row 44.

Unfortunately, today is hot. 33C hot. So I haven’t touched it yet.
Short post today, our internet connection is playing up and I keep dropping out, and that, along with the heat is just making me cranky!

  1. Wow, what a thing to start just as summer is just around the corner!! Hope you have air conditioning!! Although that kind of defeats the purpose of “eco” wool doesn’t it? =)
I was going to make this too but not sure if I should be starting another project with so many UFOs. I was going to make it in the same colour as Brooklyntweeds!!

  2. Always handy to have a large rabbit to use for comparison,
I have a 7.2 kilo kitty that you can borrow if Twinkie goes on strike.
Love the yarn, it’s soooo tempting.

  4. You had no problems winding that giant hank of yarn? The 220 sometimes overload my ball winder and the yarn gets caught in the mechanism. Is this wool soft?

  5. Did you just get the 2 skeins of yarn? I have two in the stash that I can’t remember what I bought them for. Probably a cardigan, but I don’t know what one.
Love Twinkies little back feet, so cute!

  6. hahaha. i like the way you compare the yarns, and then you compare it to twinkie!!! hahaha!! how cute.
ps: i was commenting on your blog when my boss walked pass by and asked “is that a sheep”. erm…he was referring to twinkie. hahaha. he knows i knit ^_^

  7. Gee you’re optimistic knitting a blanket at the beginning of summer! It is beautiful though. Thanks for sharing the link. You know that new yarn just needs feet, ears and a nose and it would look like Twinkie’s twin. :o)

  8. Too hot to live already??? Twinkie looks so like a big skein of wool herself, but aren’t they big?? The blanket looks beautiful by the way!!!

  9. I couldn’t stop laughing at the Twinkie comparison. I think the Eco is about the size of your average rabbit, but Twinkie’s not your average rabbit!
    Blanket’s looking great!

  10. Oh that is SO pretty, what a beautiful pattern!
That’s one big skein AND one big bunny 😉
Maybe you can hang out in the freezer section of Woolies, and knit there? D’ya reckon they’d mind?
