Lets talk once again about the wonders of blocking.
I know, I harp on a bit, don’t I?
At about 11pm on Saturday night (around the time I get all my wonderful ideas), I took a good look at Faina’s Scarf and got a bit worried.

Pardon the blurriness, it was 11pm after all, and my camera’s night vision requires more steadiness than I’m patient enough to provide.
Anyway, the point is, see the way it’s curling? I was a bit worried that I had cast on too tightly and that the curl wouldn’t block out.
So I needed to make a decision before I went any further. Should I rip it out and start over? Should I knit on, and have faith that it would come out alright?
Or should I block it as it is and see how it goes?

I went with option 3.
I got out a hand towel, pins and a water spray bottle. I spritzed the knitting (being very careful near the bamboo needle!), pinned it out, and left it overnight.
Sunday morning, I awoke to this.

Why did I ever doubt?
None of the colours are accurate, by the way, but the top two are closest.
Oh pretty, pretty. This is going to be beautiful.
Oh I rather liked the mauvie colour too, though the cream would go with more, lol
Its looking good though!!
Loved Twinkies piccie last post too!
I blocked my last pair of (lace) socks before finishing them as I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get them over my heel – worked a treat!
I’m so sorry Donna! I guess I will pass your tag onto somebody else. 🙂 The scarf is looking quite nice lovely.

Your scarf is beautful and you are right about blocking! Have a good week.
Ah yes, blocking … a lace knitter’s best friend. 🙂
You could have waited, but then you wouldn’t have enjoyed knitting the rest for fear it would all be a waste of time. It’s better to know early–no more worries.
I have yet to block anything, reasons?
A) I don’t have enough pins etc.
B) I’ve never knitted items that I thought needed blocking till now. I still need to block my Clapotis 🙁
and C) I don’t want to block something I’m giving as a gift for the first time as I would be scared of ruining it.
it is truly amazing what blocking can do! it looks wonderful so far.
Wow. It’s going to be fantastic!
the photos look more beige on top, and totally lilac on the last one. Isn’t it odd how the camera is fooled by certain light. I’ve encountered that myself recently.
The blocked version is amazing. so lovely.
it’s all about faith isn’t it? gotta believe the blocking will fix it all. And it does! That’s beautiful!
I love how on the purple background it looks natural but on the natural background it looks purple!!
Its looking good too by the way..doing well.
Katt
wow. love the stitch definition!!!
How funny! I had the same thoughts about my Faina. Wait until you get further along, it looks like a big blob of goo. Funnier still is that your last picture looks close to the color I’m making mine. :^)
Keep on knitting away, before you know it Faina’s will be ready to be blocked!
=:8
Lovely! Whatever the color, it will be beautiful.
