Ta-da!! I’ve actually done

Ta-da!!
I’ve actually done the crochet around the edge, too. Me, crochet! But I stuffed it up 😉 The pattern calls for a row of Double Crochet around the edge, and I did Single Crochet. But it’s close enough. I just followed the directions in the back of the magazine.
Hmm, maybe I should do the crochet edging on Charlotte, who is still waiting patiently. Maybe.
I also basted the zipper into Ribby, and I intend to sew that in today. Maybe I’ll have a finishing week. But only if I get off my butt and stop wasting time. I’ve spent most of the morning surfing eBay and chatting to an old friend on ICQ. And I don’t have the knack of knitting while I surf yet 🙂

  1. Beautiful hat, beautiful! Thank you for all the knitting you do and posting such great pictures – truly an inspiration!

  2. The hat looks fabulous, Donna! And the Single Crochet edging you did is most likely what was intended anyway, as this is an Aussie pattern, and what the Americans call Single Crochet we traditionally refer to as Double Crochet.
For what it’s worth, I’m most definitely not a crochet person either, but with the help of Maggie Righetti’s book (a friend’s recommendation) I managed to do the crochet edging on my Charlotte on the second attempt (the first was too loose and stretched down too far when I blocked her) with only a minor bit of fudging as I combined the casting off and the initial row of Single Crochet by using a crochet cast off I found in Montse Stanley’s book. My Charlotte was used to being ripped and re-knit by then anyway, as I knit it three times in the end before I finally got the colours in a sequence I was completely happy with. 😉
Your Charlotte is much too pretty to stay a UFO for much longer anyway… 🙂

  3. Wow, that hat is absolutely beautiful!! Do you mind if I add you to my list of “Blogs I Read”? I quite enjoy reading your posts and seeing the gorgeous work you’ve done. Again, great hat!!

  4. Man, I LOVE the colors you chose for that hat. Almost makes me want to take a go at the pattern. Yes DO your edging on Charlotte. I’d love to see it

  5. Wow! You zoomed on that hat! It’s gorgeous. You know, I’m going skiing this week so a hat like this purple goodness would be perfect for me! 😉

  6. This is a great pattern, nice and quick and warm.
I knitted it last year with handspun in 3 days. Did you get the pattern from Creative Knitting Australia too?
For your first time stranding this is fantastic knitting.
