Snowed under

It’s the week I dread all year, Dress Rehearsals for the dance concert, the week when I get all those costumes back for alterations. So far, it’s only been moderately bad, not horrendous.
The dresses I dreaded the most, the Princesses, went though yesterday and I got every single one back for some kind of alteration. Apart from that, I only have three others so far.
Then my Aunty unexpected passed away on Tuesday morning, adding a little more stress to my week. So, for all of you to whom I owe an email or a rav message, I apologise, and I will get back to you.
Here are some quick knitting updates. Evie is finished, but not yet photographed – here she is, reclining, half seamed. (Aren’t you all glad I didn’t blog that whine?)

I love it! Specs later, I promise.
The November Yarntini socks are growing nicely, considering how little time I’ve spent knitting this week.

And here’s Emily in one of her wigs for the concert this year.

She looks much cuter as a blonde than I had expected!
Twinkie has been a little neglected with the camera of late, I’m sorry!
And finally, here’s a little something I came across in my internet travels.
See this hand knit cardi?

It’s a designer label, apparently, by Rodarte. It retails for $US2,760. I know, it’s a designer label. But really?!? I could be wrong, but it doesn’t even look like it’s knit very well. Tension too loose, and uneven for a start.
That’s the price I’m going to quote next time some one asks me to knit them something!

  1. Sorry to hear about your Aunt’s passing. Hope the rest of the alterations are small and quick…
Almost $3,000??? For THAT? Oh, well, I suppose some people pay $1,000 for ripped jeans, but at least the jeans were relatively well made in the first place. That sweater, you’re right – it just doesn’t look well done!

  2. My condolences on your loss, Donna. I so miss the days when my Emily danced…all except the costume frenzy…but, it’s all worth it in the end, right? Have a peaceful day.

  3. So sorry to hear about your auntie passing away. At least with all that sewing it will keep your mind busy. I have to say that the designer must have a good name because that cardigan is a bit on the ugly side.

  4. Not sure if this will pop up twice.
I am sorry to hear about your aunt.
I sometimes have to shake my head at the designer clothing that is out there.

  5. I’m so sorry to hear about your aunt.. ((hugs))
that is the most butt ugly sweater ever… I bet Paris Hilton will buy it… 😉

  6. I’m sorry to hear about your Aunty.
Evie looks nice, even while half seamed.
If I thought I could knit a sweater and sell it for that much, I might actually be tempted to finish one!

  7. I’m so sorry to hear about your Aunty.
That is crazy for that sweater. I looked at an RL quilted vest the other day that was over $300. Of course 40% off. Still to high for my pocket book.
I swear you could buy the same thing at LLBean for $40. Insane. I refuse to pay for a stinking label.

  8. So sorry about the loss of your Aunt.
Emily looks so cute in her wig! And that designer sweater is the ugliest thing I have ever seen! I wouldn’t want it for free.

  9. Hee hee, I wouldn’t even pull that cardigan apart to reuse the yarn!! (well, maybe if it was cashmere…)
Sorry about your aunty, Donna – never easy and especially if unexpected.
Em really does look cute as a blond! Good luck with the sewing, and Evie looks great!

  10. condolences to you – awful when someone you love dies.
Yes – definitely quote them over 2000 bucks – ha – and I think you’re right about the not very good knitting…..

  11. sorry to hear about your Aunt xx
That’s a ridiculous amount for a cardi, do you know what yarn it is?
Evie and Emily look great! Love those curls.
Hope you get all those alterations sorted.

  12. My goodness, all that sewing to be done. Evie looks great & I think you can sell it for US$3,000 as yours look so much better!

  13. Oh Em looks great as a blone and it doesnt look fake either.
That expensive jumper is ugly and wonky but it would have really fit in in the 80’s.
Sorry to hear about your aunty.
