Another one finished!
I’m happy with it, and Emily professes to like it. In fact, she wanted to hug it.
There’s a little room in it too, in case she ever actually gains any weight, and grows around instead of up!
Specs:
Pattern: Deep Rib Sweater (Style 17) from Patons Australia book No. 1260 “Inca and Jet”
Yarn: Patons Australia Jet, a 70% Wool, 30% Alpaca Blend in Shade 12, a shade that is now sadly discontinued.
Needles: Knitpicks Nickel Plated Options, 4mm and 5mm.
I love this yarn! I made a scarf for a friend in it quite some time back, but this is the first time I’ve used it in a garment. It’s a nice lofty yarn, knit at 16.5sts – 10cm (4″), and it knits up super quickly. I’m so impressed with it that I’m going to get some more and knit a vest for David.
I gave the whole thing a bath in some “Soak” before I seamed it, and I’m pretty impressed with the “Soak” too! I used a sample pack of “Flora”, and it smelt heavenly, and the knitting is lovely and even softer now.
Something gorgeous arrived in today’s mail, and I’m itching to cast on.
It’s the kit for the “Magic Carpet Ride” Scarf from The Woolen Rabbit. Isn’t it gorgeous? I’m not usually much into oranges or browns, but this colourway is called “Moroccan Spice”, and it’s beautiful. I can highly recommend Kim’s service, the kit arrived in just over two weeks from the USA, and shipping was exceptionally reasonable.
I’m dying to cast on, but I have to be strong, and wait at least until I get some beads. I’m really trying to wait until I finish something else I started last week.
An Aran Scarf in Sublime Yarns “Cashmere Merino Silk Aran”. This stuff is gorgeous, too. Perfect for a scarf, not a hint of scratchiness at all, and the perfect colour to go with my new red winter coat!
Em does the best catalogue modelling shots!!!
The Magic Carpet Ride looks beautiful, and very spicy!!!
Wow – great knitting all round! Jumper is great, scarf is gorgeous (I have some the same which I’m also going to do a cabled scarf with) and that shawl kit looks fabulous – the colour is divine!
Your daughter is such a doll!!

She looks gorgeous! What lovely photos!
It looks fabulous on her!
Em looks great! Love that kit, I have stopped myself from getting it as I have too many lace projects planned. I also love the aran scarf.
I love Em’s new sweater. The color is beautiful too. I just saw some of that Soak at the fabric shop this morning. Perhaps I need to try some out.
soak is magical . i bought a bottle of flora from the loopy ewe. it makes everything so soft.
Em looks fantastic in the sweater! I got the magic carpet ride too, but I’m forcing myself to finish the bee shawl first.
emily has grown into a beautiful young woman!
Em’s jumper looks great, it looks like she really loves it, so does that mean she might actually wear it a few times…haha.
The aran scarf is lovely, I love cables and the colour of your new yarn is gorgeous.
What a beautiful sweater! Of course, Em is just the best model. She is so beautiful and adorable!!
My friend Chantal bought both the Magic Carpet and the Arabian Days, Moroccan Nights kits and I spent a good 10 minutes just fondling the yarn from both kits – so squishy and lovely! It will be beautiful, both kits!
(Thanks for making me feel so much better about my mum, too 🙂
Em sweater looks fantastic on her. You have your hands full blocking all the boys away!
Hello, gosh, haven’t you been busy! I love the sweater for your daughter, and the socks and sweater for David. The cable scarf looks wonderful and it took me a second to realise why you were knitting scarves (Oh I can be so thick at times) I think it was the use of the word “eisteddfodd” which is a Welsh word, that confused me!
Anyway, glad to see you are all well. xx
Yum that paper bag sure did look tasty through a bunny’s eyes!
That jumper looks fantastic! I really like the scarf too….it’s been nice catching up on your blog – very inspiring, I wish I had more time to knit or maybe that I could knit faster!
