Monday, Monday

Where do the weekends go?
I have another finished project! Flicker is finished!

I knit it almost twice, but I’m pretty happy with it. Bathroom mirror shots coming up.

The hat was purchased as a kit from Kim Hargreaves, here. It wasn’t a difficult pattern, I just can’t seem to learn to swatch.
I used 3.5mm needles in the end, the yarn is Rowan Wool Cotton in “Misty”. This is the first time I’ve used Wool Cotton, but I think I’ll be using it again, it’s a really nice yarn. Not at all stiff like some cottons, it feels much more like wool. It stood up to the frogging very well indeed.
And here’s what was supposed to be a shot of the back of the hat. Not an easy picture to take!

I’m not usually a hat wearer, but I’ll wear this one.
I also finished the top secret project, but I can’t show you that one just yet. And I started another secret one!
I also started a new scarf for Em. Just because she doesn’t wear any of the others that I’ve knit for her. I’m a sucker.
I started it a few weeks back actually, but it wasn’t going well.
She wanted a pink and white scarf, and I wanted to do it in a chevron pattern. I flicked through my beloved Barbara Walker treasuries, and came up with this.

I was pretty happy with this, but I didn’t like the back.

So I tossed it aside until this weekend, when I came across the perfect scarf in Scarf Style, ZigZag stripes.

But now I don’t think I’m going to have enough yarn!
For the Twinkie fans, here’s her new trick.

To get a “kiss” from a bunny, hold a grape between your lips!
24 days until we leave for the USA. I’m not sure if I’m more anxious or excited. I’ve already had bad dreams about the flight!

  1. Hope Em appreciates that scarf – especially all the ends to be woven in. Flicker looks good too – the beads are a nice touch, and I like the shaping at the crown.

  2. The hat looks great on you! Good luck on the scarf. I really liked the first one, but I think you were right to abandon it because of the way it looked on the back.

  3. Your are just a FO fiend. Good for you. Hard to believe your holiday is coming so quickly or that Xmas is on its way so fast. Thank you for the Twinkie fix. Now that my Mocha is gone I have to live vicariously through the web bunnies. Twinkie is precious anything for food.

  4. The hat looks great. I usually don’t make hats for me but I did knit myself a beret last week, starting it while watching the Macys parade on TV and finished it before dinner time. It was a quick knit pattern and I couldn’t stop.
I also can’t stop knitting for my niece (she’s 19) even though she has told me no more sweaters. I just make her scarfs, hats and mittens instead. The pink and white scarf is very cute, I am sure Em will love it.

  5. Flicker is cute! So does the WIP scarf. Thats a neat bunny trick but if I try that with my guiena pig, I will get bitten quite badly. Lol..

  6. Hold a grape between your lips, and hope the bunny doesn’t get too enthusiastic! The way Custard reaches for a treat, I’d be afraid, very afraid!

  7. You have so many dazzling UFOs — hanging garden, hemlock, and now this pretty beaded hat. Perfect for NYC!!
I hope your toe is healing OK and that Twinkie is repentant and being extra sweet to you. 🙂

  8. I’ve got a few of those in my stash, some half balls left over from the fnf blanket – you can have that if you need it.
Hat looks good. Scarf looks good. You should wear Nicole, it looks great on you.
However, David kissing the rabbit is a bit disturbing.
