Stupid Rabbit

So at lunch time today, I was walking from the kitchen into the lounge room. Twinkie decided to run between my legs and beat me to it.

I kicked my little toe on the nice solid wall unit. And cracked the bone.
It hurt.
A lot.
But at least it isn’t broken.
Mind you, I just bought pretty new strappy shoes to wear to Ailsa’s birthday party tomorrow night. At least I can wear one of them, I guess.
Stupid Rabbit.
In knitting news, I got tired of working on the Top Secret project, so I cast on for the first of the Kim Hargreaves kits.

It’s the Flicker hat! Here’s a close up of the beaded bit.

I’m really enjoying the Rowan Wool Cotton. It’s a 50% Merino/50% Cotton blend, and it’s nice and squishy. I am a little worried that I’m going to run short on beads, because some of them were just too small to fit on the yarn, but we’ll see how we go.
Swanknitter has tagged me for another meme.
This is a reading one, and David and I got a really good laugh out of it.
“open the book youรญre currently reading to page 161 and read the fifth sentence on the page, then think of 5 bloggers to tag.”
I’m currently reading “Dreams Made Flesh” by Anne Bishop. Despite the sound of the title, it’s not p*rn. But Page 161, sentence 5 is the start of a sex scene. It mentions part of male anatomy, and leather trousers, and.. oh, my.
Enough said!
I’m off to elevate my foot and knit. And maybe read a little!

  1. Hang on… have you achieved knitting nirvana? The inability to do any useful housework/driving but uninjured hands?
    SCORE!!!!!
(I’m still very sorry to hear about this and hope you have lots of painkillers ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Ouch! I hope that you’re up to all the walking you’re going to be doing on your upcoming trip. In the meantime, I think you should paint your toenails blue/purple/black, something in that color family. I had a roommate in college who did that for me when I injured the tendons in my foot, and people really seemed to think that the nail color worked with the whole injured foot thing.

  3. Oh no, not even a knitting related injury! Keep that foot elevated so it doesn’t swell. At least you can get in some couch time to read and knit. I hope you got some pain killers so you’re comfortable. Here’s wishing you will heal quickly!

  4. Ooooohhhhh-bad Twinkie! Of course, maybe she had an ulterior motive-now that you’re not very mobile, you’ll have lots of cuddle time….

  5. Ouch! Twinkie’s not injured though I’m sure. I remember when I was young and my dog tripped me over and I sprained my ankle. That was painful enough so I cant imagine how much a cracked bone hurts. At least you have a good excuse for time to sit and knit some more.

  6. Ouch, I feel for you. I did something similar in high school many years ago (ex’s house, walked into a tree, enough said) but I remember the pain.
The beaded hat looks very interesting.

  7. Dear dear Donna, so sorry to hear about the lil toe!! But I guess it’s a good excuse to sit and knit all day hehe!
    Get well soon!

  8. Animals! Twinkie had an motive in mind. Mum is sitting, I get cuddles. My thoughts are with you, it’s amazing how much stubbing/cracking and breaking (been there, done that) a toe can hurt. Plenty of Panadol Forte.
Love the Flicker Hat, the beading really sets it off.
So you have no excuse not to be sitting, foot elevated, book in lap, knitting in hand, and Twinkie by the side….. and a cuppa…..

  9. Ouch! Hope you feel better soon!!
Wool cotton is really nice to knit with. I’m using Cotton Fleece at the moment and its so lovely. So much nicer than regular cotton!

  10. Oh f***ing OW sweetie!! Toes hurt like the blazes, don’t they?!! There’s generally not much they can do, even if it is broken, apart from wrapping it up and staying off it. Hopefully this gives you plenty of knitting time (Yeah. In the heat. DAMN).
Hope Twinkie is getting some CONSEQUENCES for this naughty behaviour. No carrots or something…
Lovin’ those beads – beautiful! Hope you’re feeling better REAL fast – I was going to say ‘quick like a bunny’ but then thought better of it LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Sorry to hear about your toe. I’m looking forward to see that hat when it’s done. Got your blog adress from Marika. And now I know I will be back and look into what your up to.

  14. Sorry to heard that you hurt your toe – well look at it positively – more knitting time as you have to put your feet up & be pampered. The beads look nice with the yarn. Take care.

  15. Sorry to hear about your toe. I know what it’s like too I’ve done it to my little toes on both feet many moons ago. You did a wonderful job with David’s gloves they look really great!
