Puttering along

Friday night and Saturday night I sat, and I knit. We had the dance comp Saturday afternoon and Sunday, but I knit my little fingers to the bone for the rest of the weekend.
And progress was made! Nicole grew in a satisfying manner.

And I started David’s gloves, and made excellent progress on those, too.

The yarn is Cascade 220 Heathers, in Turtle Heather from Yarns Online, and I’m using Ann Budd’s “Knitters Handy book of Patterns”.
And I was really glad that these projects are moving along so well, because today I got mail!

David saw the boxes this afternoon, and said “Mmmm, cake!” No, dear. Better.
Knitting kits from Kim Hargreaves. Opening these boxes is like having Christmas morning!
Box number one.

Isn’t it pretty?!? And inside the first layer,

Two balls of Rowan Wool Cotton in Misty for the Flicker hat, and a little bag of beads. And sharing this box,

Six balls of Rowan 4ply Cotton for Buttercup, and the glass buttons. And beautiful patterns printed on lightweight card.
And in box number 2,

More beautiful wrapping, and ensconced within,

Eight balls of RYC 4ply Cashsoft for Evie.
Three gorgeous kits, because I’m greedy. (And there’s another on the way!)
So, I had all these wonderful plans. I was going to finish Nicole and the gloves, and dive into those gorgeous boxes.
But all the best laid plans go awry, don’t they?
It’s dress rehearsal week at the dance studio this week. All my sewing is done, I finished the last bits and pieces last week and was feeling very proud of myself.
This afternoon I got a call from a distraught mother. The woman doing her sewing has botched her costumes. All of them. Delivered them at the last minute, and they’re atrocious. How could I say no?
See Donna chained to the sewing machine again?
But here’s a warm fuzzy thought.

This is the warmest, softest, snuggliest part of Twinkie. It always makes me feel better.

  5. Your needles were working overtime this weekend. Great progress!
It’s going to be hard to hold off on the new kits. Good luck on the sewing. I hope it’s not as big of a mess as it sounds.

  6. You could have said, of course, but it would almost seem cruel. Good for you, for helping them out. And as a reward, you’ll have beautiful lovelies waiting for you!

  7. Oh wow!! I mean…WOW! You looked forward to a good Monday and looks like it turned out to be awesome!! Pretty pretty yarns!

  8. Nicole looks great Donna and very nice Kim Hargreaves kits, she has so many wonderful designs.
Your Hanging Garden Stole turned out beautiful as always.

  9. Nicole is looking gorgeous! I’m liking the neutral colors more and more. I used to only buy yarn that had colors that excite me but I don’t always wear those colors. Sorry, no finger gloves for me! They seem like so much work! Yep, I think Christmas did come early at your house. Those kits look gorgeous.

  10. Ooh you have been spoiling yourself havent you. Those kits all look gorgeous, and I am so jealous. I hope you get some time to spend knitting them, and you are so nice to fix the costumes for that lady. I can just imagine how horrible she felt when she received them being made so badly. Karma will come and I am sure something really nice will happen to you for fixing them.

  11. Those kits are drool worthy. My favourite I think is Flicker.
Do you think a combo of sew one seam, knit one row would work? 😛

  12. I love Nicole – it’s gorgeous especially in white – you are such a fast knitter. Wow – X’mas came early & such wonderful presents – I will love to receive one of the kits!

  13. Wow, I can’t believe how much progress you made on Nicole already! It looks wonderful!
Good luck with all your sewing! Your new KH kits will keep you motivated with all that sewing I bet.

  14. That’s one of my favorite parts of Pumpkin too! I call it the “kitty massage” spot.
I think it;s kinda funny that you are knitting that lovely summer top and warm gloves — great knitting diversity! 🙂
Seeing you open those boxes was just drool worthy! I love all the choices youve made plus the cashsoft line is my very favorite yarn!

  15. You are a such a beautiful person coming to the rescue like that!!!! You deserve every bit of those gorgeous kits!! Love that hat!!!!(and Twinkies fluffy bits too!)

  16. I hate to say it, but I think for the first time Twinkie has been outdone by the combined whammy of Nicole/yarny goodness! (Sorry, Twinkie! She DOES look soft..)

  17. Oh you’re a good egg, fixing up the bad sewing. Sigh.
I just adore Nicole – it’s SO pretty! And as for all those boxes of GOODIES. Goosent me! What fun! 😀
