Twisted Flowers for Spring!

Third time lucky? For the third Saturday in a row, I have a finished project to show.

The Twisted Flower socks are done. I love them! Here’s a few more angles.

Specs:
Pattern: Cookie A’s “Twisted Flower Socks”
Yarn: Louet Gems Merino Fingering in “Eggplant” from The Loopy Ewe
Needles: 2.5mm on the leg, 2.25mm on the foot.
And one more shot, on the sock blockers.

My sock blockers came from Natty Yarns, btw.
I loved knitting this pattern. It’s complicated enough to need some thought, but not too hard to follow in front of the TV at night.
I really loved the yarn. It’s not available here in Australia, and it’s the first time I’ve used it, but it certainly won’t be the last. The label claims that it’s machine washable and dryable, and it’s a lovely springy yarn to knit with. I was a bit ticked when I found a knot in the first skein, but the second skein was fine. There was plenty of yardage in the skein, too. These socks are a little longer than I normally knit, and I still had a little yarn left over.
Overall? A+ for both pattern and yarn.

In other news, Twinkie got a parcel this week.

She was pretty excited, and wanted to open it straight away.

But customs had checked it out, and were a bit heavy handed with the tape, so I had to help. She waited kind of patiently while I opened it for her.

Then she spotted what was inside.

Then she got really excited, and demanded that I open the packets for her.

Thank you to Kimberly and her furkids, Twinkie is very appreciative!

  1. Beautiful socks! I (my hubby actually) managed to felt Gems Merino / socks before. By the way, you looked wonderful in your picture before. WW certainly agrees with you! Thanks for the post.

  2. Your socks turned out great! I have those on my long list of things I want to knit. Those pictures of Twinkie are adorable!! I didn’t realize she had such a demanding side to her. 🙂

  3. Those socks look beautiful. You seem to be finishing quite a few things lately too. I cant wait to see what new projects you are going to knit.

  4. Yah, Twinkie got a squishie! I wanted to tell you that I love your Twinkie updates. I had a rabbit many years ago who looked just like Twinkie, but his name was Jellybean 🙂 Furbabies are the best 🙂

  5. As always – perfect! I think another pair of Cookie socks shall have to be next on my list. Beaudelaire, perhaps? (In Violet, naturally).
You really are an enabler… 😉

  6. Wow – the socks look so lovely – love the pattern & the color too! I recently bought 2 skeins of Louet Gems & they are gorgeous. Can’t wait to knit them up but I just can’t decide which yarn to use first.

  7. The socks look great and as a bonus they are on one of our sock blockers that we make. Twinkie looks so cute and as always I feel like giving her a huge hug.

  8. Those are gorgeous! I am glad that you included details about the yarn because I’ve never used it before, either, and you gave all the details that I’d want to know before trying it. I have to get myself a copy of that pattern and some Louet Gems to knit it up with.
