Fifi!

For the second Saturday in a row, I present a Finished Project. (Don’t get used to it 😉

Fifi is finished!
What a fantastic knit. Loved knitting it, love wearing it.
Specs:
Pattern: “Fifi” from French Girl Knits
Size: 33.5″
Yarn: Rowan Calmer, in Chiffon, less than 4 balls
Needles: KnitPicks Options, 4mm. The pattern recommends 29″ circs, but I knit the second smallest size, on 32″ circs with no problems.
Pattern modifications: Minor. I made it 30cm long in the side seam. The original in the pattern was 24cm long, but I don’t think anyone needs to see that much of my flesh!
There is the option of short row shaping in the best area for more shapely busts than mine, but obviously I don’t need it. I did decrease a tiny bit in the sides once I got past the boobage area. In the ribbing at each sides, I decreased 3 stitches. Here’s a pic.

Barely noticeable, especially when I’m wearing it. So when I was at the very centre of the sides, instead of K2, P2 ribbing, it became K2, P1, K2, P1, K2, P1, K2. It doesn’t make a huge difference, just made it a little bit snugger.
Overall, it’s another winner, I think!

  1. Hooray for Fifi! It looks wonderful. Now I have to finish up the sytery stole, a few pairs of socks, and another mystery stole before working on my sweater…..

  2. Looks great
The tea cosy had been in a cafe for 2 months and all but the last 2 days before collecting our convenor had been there everyday. I still have the tea pot it sits on just not the cosy. Chances of it returning is very slim.

  3. Fifi is lovely, and the color quite suits the pattern. I think you’ll just have to bring her to America because she’ll be just perfect for parts of your trip.

  4. Fifi looks fab on you Donna, another great kntting job. I have the new Jordana Paige Bella bag too from Meaghan. I love it and I use it every day, it’s a great bag.

  5. Fifi looks great, and she does fit you very nice. I was reading comments, and realized you must have a personal accomplishment other than knitting, so went back to February ’06 and caught a picture of you modeling a finished object there. (I am a new reader here – new to knitting blogs.) You do look fabulous! Congratulations on your success. I am guessing you feel fabulous and you certainly look wonderful!

  6. Fifi looks fantastic and has reminded me that I really should start on something I can wear once it warms up here. I just got to figure out how to knit and exercise at the same time or I wont fit into any summer clothes.

  7. Fifi looks gorgeous on you and I think the longer length looks terrific too. I think this knit is one of your best yet that you have worn, and with the warmer weather arriving I am sure you will get a lot of wear out of it too.

  8. Color me inspired.
I’ve got that pattern sitting right here in the pile of many things I want to knit. It just moved up several slots — yours came out beautifully!
If only I had the right yarn in my stash … snif.
I AM trying to knit at least one thing from stash for every thing I buy new yarn for, and having just gone to Stitches, I have to wait a wee bit before I get to call all that new yarn stash…. so no new yarn for a bit.
Which may well mean no Fifi for a bit either.
But I’m more enthused than ever about it!

  9. RRROOWWWWW!!! (Bad frenchified Catcall)
You look fabulous!!! (Fifi isn’t bad either)
Seriously though, what a wonderful top!
