Sunday sky, amongst other stuff

Sunday sky, because I was out yesterday and didn’t have my camera. (Again!)

The weather was positively glorious this weekend. It’s like Spring has already sprung. The sun is warm, the breeze is slight, it’s been perfect.
Let’s hope it lasts.
The Twisted Flower sock has progressed nicely.

The picture is deceptive, but I wanted you all to see my blue toenails, courtesy of Tammy. She sent me a fantastic package this week, full of goodies, including the nail polish.
Anyway, the sock actually looks like this now.

And from the back

I love this sock! I have rather wide ankles, (actually, I hardly have ankles, my legs turn straight into my feet with no shaping) and broad feet, but I like my socks to be tight in the feet. I also usually go down a needle size from the recommended size, because my gauge is usually loose. So I did the leg on 2.5mm needles instead of 2.75mm as for the size Large, and I did the foot on 2.25mm needles, and worked the instructions for the size Small.
If I knit them again, I’ll go down another needle size. They fit well, but I’d like them to be just a little bit tighter. I thought about going down a needle size for the next sock, but it would drive me crazy to have two different socks, so I’ll do the second one the same as the first.
And the Angora Supreme sweater has seen some action. I knit some, I frogged some, I knit some again.
I started the raglan decreases, but I didn’t like them.

I wasn’t happy with the wide “seam” I was getting, so I ripped back all the raglan shaping and restarted it. I tried to convince myself that I could live with it, but I knew I couldn’t.

I much prefer it now!
Mind you, if this weather keeps up, I won’t get to wear the sweater until New York!

  1. That sock – just gorgeous! Love the colour and all – perfect! And you’ll be pleased (I think!) to know it is going to be cold again this week – so if you speed knit on the jumper, you might get one wear in before New York!

  2. WOW, that sock is fabulous, and i love the colour.
I’m still praying for more cold and wet; especially the wet. You’ll get to wear your socks and sweater before New York.

  3. Those must be the prettiest socks I’ve ever seen! As a lace knitter, you should try to make it to Habu and Sarah’s yarns to stock up on Zephyr.

  4. Those are the prettiest socks I’ve ever seen. As a lace knitter, you should try to make it to Habu and maybe Sarah’s Yarns to stock up on Zephyr, whey you’re in NY.

  5. I just caught up on all of your posts since I moved…congratulations to Em on all of her trophies, and your progress on the lace shawls. Your KSH is calling to me but I am going to just say no because I have too many things started! (I have the cocoon pattern too).
So glad you are coming to the US! As it gets closer, please let us know. I’d love to see you for a coffee in NYC if it will fit your plans!:)

  6. *moan of longing* I really, really want the socks. Desperately. I suspect I may be nagging my husband for them around my birthday.
As for the Kitri socks, as I said the pattern is phenomenal (Hard. So hard. Love it.), and they have an awful lot of give in them. I have really wide feet, so I’ll let you know how much give they have when I get down to my instep.
Also, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who tries on socks when knitting with double points. Awkward, but it works!

  7. OOh, I love your twisted flower sock. Just gorgeous. And I know what you mean about liking tight socks. They give so much with wear and washing. Go Angora Supreme! Bring on New York!!
