(Insert drumroll)

Icarus is off the needles!
Finally.
I was pretty excited yesterday morning. I had only 6 rows of chart 4 left. I planted my butt on the couch, and prepared to knit those last six rows. I knit, and I knit, and I knit. And I was done. I heaved a huge sigh of relief, and prepared to cast off.
Then I decided to check the pattern to make sure there wasn’t a special cast off I was supposed to use.
What did I see?
Four more freakin’ rows! Four edging rows that weren’t charted. So I had a little dummy spit, then I sat down again and knit those four rows and I finally got to cast it off.
It’s blocking right now.
I had a video of Twinkie to upload, but i can’t find it. So here’s some pictures of Em fishing for a bunny with a sprig of hay.

I love that last picture. To me it looks like she’s thinking “Must you always point that thing at me?”
And David would like it publicly known that he is overdue for new socks.

Yes, he has one on inside out.

He may be right.

  1. Congrats on finishing Icarus!! I bet you feel very, very relieved to finish that. It looks great! Can’t wait to see it after blocking. Black blob no more 🙂

  2. Congratulations on Icarus. I will probably never go there, but it’s nice to see that other people have no fear.
    Great bunny, as always.
And why do men wear socks inside out (or, as my stepson used to do, with the heel cup on TOP of his ankle)? Gah. At least he has loved and worn your socks. I guess.

  3. You did a lovely job on Icarus Donna! What a pain about the last 4 rows! If it were me, betcha I would not have noticed before the cast off! You will look very elegant at whatever ocassion you choose to wear Icarus at, to be sure! And at least your hubbie wears 2 socks from the same pair. Just sayin’. Can’t dob a fella in on his birthday, now can I?

  4. Yay Icarus! Now you can start Jo Sharp jumper (or maybe you really should whip out a new pair of socks for David first…although it is nice to have a big project and a small one on the go at the same time!!)

  5. You wash, fold and put away socks with holes in them?!! I think he deserves another pair!
Good to see that Icarus is done as the Jo Sharp is calling. I’m interested to see how the Rowan ASC performs.

  6. Feels good to finish something so beautiful, doesn’t it? Great work!

Your hubby has handknit socks? Mine has a pair of bedsocks in progress from last spring….somewhere. Hmmmm….maybe he should get some for Christmas…..

  9. Blocking lace is so cool! I showed DH my newly off the needles Swallowtail and he wasn’t that impressed by it’s scrunchiness. Then I blocked and he was amazed! Yep, those socks are well loved!

  12. Gorgeous, well done as always. I think you will need to reinforce the feet on his next pair of socks though, or maybe knit some slippers to wear over them.

  13. Yay for finishing Icarus, and yep someone definately needs some more socks. What a great excuse to buy more yarn, some for him, some for you, some for Em, some for twinkie, some for the birds that fly around he yard………..
