There is light at the end of the sleeve!
The sleeves are done. One pinned, one rolling. You know what this means?
The knitting on the lacy cardi is complete. Now I just have to block the pieces, seam it up, and then learn to crochet.
Considering how much I detest crochet, this may be a drama waiting to happen. Every edge has a crochet trim.
Hmmm.
I also now have to consider what’s next. All I have on the needles is DH’s Trekking socks. I guess I have no reason to avoid them any longer.
I’ve been thinking about next year’s Easter Show, and I think I’m going to try the Shetland Shawl from A Gathering of Lace. But I’m not in the mood for cobweb lace right now.
Some of my indecision is possibly being influenced by the fact that school is out for Easter holidays this afternoon. I have just 2 hours of peace and quiet left until May 1. Definitely not the time to start complicated lace.
Twinkie decided she needed some colour.
So she rolled in the dirt.
I have been busy playing with sock yarn and dye – pictures next time. Right now, I’m off to watch some TV while I still can!
My heartfelt sympathy. I just went through Spring Break last week. I was so glad for the kids to go back to school!!
May 1st! You are tough, you’ll survive.
I forced myself to learn crochet last year, and it actually is one of the smarter things I’ve done. I’ll be worth the pain, trust me.
Don’t worry, crochet is so so easy. You’ll get it done and get it done beautifully too. 🙂
Yep I am counting down my hours of freedom over here too. Seriously, who thinks two weeks of kids home buzzed up on chocolate from Easter is a good idea??? Someone with no kids, or someone who had horridly evil kids and wants everyone else to suffer.
Add to the mix that half this time is Public Holidays with stores closed so I can’t even escape to hide in a yarn store. ARGHHHHHHHHHH
That darn Twinkie is soooo cute even when a bit on the dirty side!
Maybe if I swapped our knitting at snb next time while you were at the bar you wouldn’t notice and I could crochet your edges while you knit my sleeves? (Hmm, beginnings of evil plan … mwah mwah mwah..)
Good luck with the crochet.
Yipee~ another FO soon. =)
There are plenty of other things you can do instead of the evil crochet! I have tried to learn to do it (and several people have attempted to teach me), with a complete lack of success! If you can’t think of anything, try either of Nikki Epstein’s “Edge” books – there’s plenty there to get you started/confused/overwhelmed with choices!! So unless you REALLY like the look of it (which I don’t, which is probably why I’ve not persevered), just figure out something to knit onto the edges instead – it’s quicker!!
Commiserations about the school hols – remember them most UNfondly – at least this year down here, they shifted the 1st term hols to coincide with the Comm games, so there was a VERY short 1st term, and 2nd Term is long, but punctuated with a couple of long weeekends – much easier to cope with!
You can do it, it is only two weeks and a couple of days.
