Catching up…. again

I am very remiss in my blogging of late. Problem is that by the time I get to sit down these days, my eager hands are far more likely to reach for my knitting than my keyboard.
Although I have finished projects to show for it!
First off, I finished the little striped baby cardi.

A lovely knit with a lovely result! (And yes, bigger than expected, I still didn’t check my washed tension!)
Specs:
Pattern: Striped Cardigan by Debbie Bliss from her “Booties Blankets and Bears” book.
Yarn: Baby Cashmerino, 2 balls each of white and blue (Book and yarn from Calico & Ivy, Balmain)
Needles: 2.5mm and 3mm. Should’ve been 2.25 and 2.75mm, I think.
Mods: None, knit precisely to the pattern.
And I finished something for myself, too.

When the lovely DrK headed over to the USA before Christmas, I made her a little case for her camera. In return, she brought me back a most beautiful gift – two skeins of Koigu Mori in the most gorgeous shade of pink!
It begged to be a scarf, and who am I to resist such lush yarn?

Specs:
Pattern: Montego Bay scarf by Amy Singer
Yarn: Koigu Mori, two skeins.
Needles: 5mm.
Mods: None. I knit the first skein, then I cut off enough pieces for the little braided fringe from the second skein and then I knit until I ran out of yarn. It’s perfect! The yardage of the yarn is less than the pattern calls for, but the length is just right.

I can see this one getting a lot of wear this winter!

  1. A very beautiful scarf.
Work does have a tendency to cut into our “other activities” time, doesn’t it? Even when one enjoys the job.

  2. OMG look at all those little plaits! That would’ve taken as long to do as it did to knit the scarf! Which is fab, by the way!
And you can’t beat a stripey cardi for a baby!

  3. Gorgeous Donna! Work is very interfering that is for sure! I am wanting a new scarf this winter also – take care – Nat xx

  4. i just knew that mori would make something perfect for you, and that is just gorgeous. i have some koigu cashmere from that trip that might work as this! great pattern. looove the baby cardi, i do hope the recipient appreciated it!

  5. I have the opposite problem, at the moment. I can’t seem to get off Ravelry to finish my boring brown socks 😉
Love the scarf! It went straight to the queue.
