So usually I’m pretty good at project monogamy. I like to have a pair of socks, a garment and one other project going at a time. Otherwise, I’d have a hundred projects on the go, and nothing would ever get finished. I know myself far too well.
Lately, it’s starting to fall apart.
Ages ago, I started a pair of stripey pink socks. September of last year. The first one is done. The second is started. But somehow they fell by the wayside. Then SS62011 started, and I did the Shitygal socks, and have now started the Nutkin socks.
So I’ve sent the Akomeogi socks into hibernation.
Then, a month ago I started a new cardigan. I need a basic black cardigan for work, but I didn’t want anything too boring. Enter the Camber cardigan.
It really is black, forgive my camera. Black Wollmeise laceweight. I’m an idiot. A month of working on it, and this is as far as I got. What was I thinking? Limited knitting time, and I decide to knit a cardigan in lacweight yarn. I.d.i.o.t.
So to counteract the pain of the laceweight, (which between us, has been shoved to the very bottom of the knitting basket) I cast on a new cardigan.
Funny how much quicker a cardi for a tiny baby is! It’s for a workmate of David’s, whose wife is expecting their first baby. Debbie Bliss Baby cashmerino, which I’d forgotten how much I like!
Now I feel like I’m accomplishing something!
I always have 4-6 things going at once. I envy/admire those who can maintain monogamy.
Laceweight cardis… the more I see them the more I want them, but all that knitting! They just look gorgeous though, and the Black Wollmeise looks fab.
I am totally intrigued – those end guards on your DPNs are awesome! If you don’t mind sharing, where did you get them?
So much on the go and new jobs as well. You are a brave woman.
The baby cardigan is gorgeous.
The Wollmeise laceweight cardigan will be stunning when it is finished but I am feeling the pain.
Whoever invented the laceweight cardi should be shot. That one will be sooo worth it tho. I’m trying to stick to that basic 3 things at once pattern myself but its hard isn’t it? And that is one lucky baby, just gorgeous.
I don’t know how you knit one sock and then go back and knit the next one. I have to knit both at once, on separate needles because I haven’t figured out the way to do it on one circular.
Oh but the black laceweight cardi will be so practical and I bet worn heaps, so it will be worth it in the end!
I love the cardie – and really tempted by the laceweight madness my self
the sock rock – and the colour is great
All looks great, cute baby jacket and your black cardi will be worth finishing sometime in the next millennium and your socks are in great colour ;D
Lots of projects – at least when you get bored you can work a little on each of them, and then perhaps you can finish them all within a few days of each other like I normally do. Love the baby cardigan too!
The baby sweater is so cute. This morning, I only had one thing on the needles. Then I cast on a scarf and now I have two. I usually like to have 3. An easy work project, a more difficult project for home and the something small. It’s been a long time since I had less than 3 going. I’m sure it won’t last long but it does feel weird for me.
Lace cardigans were invented by machine knitters! (Or maybe robots). I found someone on Rav with 25 WIPs and sent her a Congratulations. I think you can’t have too many WIPs myself, so you have knitting on the go for every mood 😀
I have more sock on the needles at the moment than you do projects. Maybe I need to learn some project monogamy. I might actually get something finished!
With the exceptions of the ‘projects that will not be named’, I technically am a monogamous knitter, of only because my best knitting time happens while waiting for red lights!!
The baby cardi is so very cute and the other stuff will be lovely when it gets finished – in their own time of course!
I love the black cardigan. Lace weight knitting is slow but I do enjoy the mindless knitting as I just finished one. It’s hard to work on one project at a time as it will be too boring.
I think you’re doing wonderfully to keep it to Five Or Less things going at once.
(This year’s goal is “under 30” for me…Hm. I could use another pair of Nutkins…)
I love your nutkins – I’m struggling with that pattern.
And that baby cardi is just gorgeous!
