Bundles of stuff

Lots of stuff going on, lots of blog posts up in my head. After deliberating, I decided to go with the new knits for today.

No one managed to guess all three new things! I should have made it into a real competition, shouldn't I?

First up, the RYC Classic Alpaca Soft. This came as part of a kit from Kim Hargreaves, for Spirit from the Light and Shade Collection.

Loving this! I may never knit with lace weight again! I cast on for this on Wednesday afternoon, and here's where I was last night.

The yarn is RYC Classic Alpaca Soft from Rowan, and it's really, really nice. I'm not usually a fan of bulky yarns, or of bouclé, but when it knits up this quickly and feels this soft, what's not to love? Although I do kind of wish I'd gone with the Charcoal Grey instead of the Rose now, but I do still like the Rose. It's 50% Cotton, and 50% Alpaca, but I'd never have guessed it was half cotton to touch it.

Project number two is the sock yarn that appeared to be a pinky colour, but is actually red. (Stupid camera).

Kitri Socks! (I typoed that at first as sicks, then as sucks. A bit like my typing skills!)

Designed by the extremely talented Tsock Tsarina, kit purchased from the wonderful Jennifer at VanCalcar Acres.

I've had it simmering in the stash for a while, and every time I opened the sock box, it called to me, so I decided the time was nigh. Haven't got far with it yet, though.

And the final project that no-one managed to guess, is a hat for Emily. (Because she needs another hat to hide in her bedroom!)
She saw Ziggy, and went into raptures, so I ordered a skein of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Child's Play from Jimmy Beans Wool, and here we are.

I can't say I'm overly happy with it, but I've never been a fan of lace in variegated yarns, but Emily loves it so far, and I guess that's the important bit. Now she wants it finished to wear to casual day at school this week.

I haven't made any promises!

Ooh the pressure from kids to have their knits finished first. As long as she loves it I guess is all that matters. The sweater looks lovely so far, and I really like the color of those socks.

Ah, a hat. Who would've guessed? ;) The Spirit is zooming along!
PS I'm not too sure about the camera you're using, but most digital cameras have a function for different lightings (fluorescent, tungsten, daylight, etc) Maybe you can try those next time the colour appears funny.

Gosh you are a fast knitter!!! Love the hat pattern too - I think I'm with you on the yarn but as long as Em loves it, that's all that matters!!

Donna, are you a continental knitter? Is that how you can kit so much in 4 days? Or do you give up sleeping, eating, cooking and cleaning!! If David helps you out I want to adopt him. He can spend 6 months here and 6 down under LOL

I love all your projects and totally get Em wanting that hat. It Rocks.

I wouldn't have guessed that Child's Play would come out so yellow. I thought the colors would be more even. It's still pretty. I'm sure you can have the hat finished by the time Em wants to wear it!

Great projects on the needles and David's vest is wonderful!

You're flying through the knits with larger needles! Cotton and alpaca, sounds like an interesting mixture.

Love the knits. The color of the boucle is very pretty on my monitor. I don't think I have ever knit with boucle but I do have some in the stash. Em has good taste, that is a cute hat and I love Lornas Laces yarn.

I think I am taking a lace break (except for the lunch knitting) though I did start a Clementine Shawlette in some sport weight today. I started a top down sweater for my nephew, then my mother decided she wanted a sweater too so I had her approve some yarn from the stash. Plus, I have one in mind for me.

But, the lace weight patterns still call to me.

LOVE Spirit and LOVE Ziggy!! I can't wait to see your Kitri...I have the kit too but I'm giving it away cause I loathe knitting with laceweight!

Kitri is on! Huzzah! I am so pleased to see you knitting it - trust me, it'll be a perfect fit :)

Wow! I ordered the Kitri a while ago too, and it has been languishing while I've been obsessed with the Babette. I'm keen to see how yours goes! Its such a gorgeous pattern.
