My Blog

June 29, 2007

Well, I don't have a finished project today. I tried, really.

I made some changes to the pattern, and it slowed me down a little. The pattern called for the button band to be knit separately and seamed on, but we all know how much I like seaming, don't we?
So I decided to pick up stitches and knit the band that way. Wednesday night I sewed the raglan seams, then picked up what seemed like enough stitches to me, and happily knit away, then cast off, and looked at it. I should've taken a picture.
I didn't pick up enough stitches, and the whole front was puckered and pulled up. I tried to convince myself I could block it out, but lets face it, baby's mum isn't going to want to fiddle around blocking it every time it gets washed, does she?
So yesterday I ripped it out and redid it.
I guess I'm glad I did.
I'm sure I will be glad when I get over it!

What else?

Shetland shawl border! You know what that means? The centre square is done. Done!
That feels like a huge achievement. And not having the whole thing in my lap feels a little odd. And cold.

Twinkie.

You'll be glad you took the extra time. Love the purple and pink.

I know they say the formula is 3 stitches picked up for every four rows, but I spend a lot of time doing what you have had to do!!! We need a better formula!! The cardi looks beautiful though....buttons???

The cardigan looks lovely - those variegated yarns are so pretty, aren't they?

And now your back on the borders of the Shetland shawl - it'll be finished before you know it! Keep up the great work.

Twinkie's all clean and fluffy now...but how are your rugs?

Congratulations on getting to the border of your shawl!

So close on the cardi - and the shawl - you deserve a big reward when you finish both!!

I can't wait to see what kinds of buttons you have picked out for this little baby raglan!

Rule of thumb for Vertical edges is 3 for 4, formula for diagonal edges is 5 for 6, formula for horizontal edges is 1 for 1. Hopefully that will help in the future.

Very cute cardi! Redoing the button band was very worth it :)

The sweater is adorable and, of course, you know how much I love Twinkie!

I'm just getting caught up with my bloglines (technology can be both a blessing and a curse). The shawl is really coming along and you must be very happy to onto the borders.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. My thoughts are with you and your family.

The Shetland Shawl is coming along so nicely. It would take me MONTHS to knit something like that, not weeks.
The cardigan is gorgeous, and well worth ripping and redoing the band.
Twinkie once again "helping" you with your socks?
BTW, I have nominated you for the "Rockin' Girl Blogger" award, see my blog.

Congratulations on the completion of the centre square. I can't wait to see your progress. Oh, and I have also nominated you for that award.
