My Blog

September 02, 2006

I've been seriously neglecting the blog, haven't I? I'm sorry, really, but I'm having difficulty with having only 24 hours in each day!

It's Saturday, so let's start with sky.

I love those little wispy clouds. Spring has sprung, right on time. 25C yesterday, and 27C today, so I heard. I love Spring!
What else do I love?
Zephyr.
And lookee what I got my hands on this week.

Ailsa and I split a nice big Zephyr order. I'm in lace heaven. Thats a half pound each of Ladyslipper, Plum and Blueberry, and a pound of White.
Roughly 15,000 yards of laceweight. I'd better start knitting.

Well, I would, but I started Cece instead.

It's a great knit. The lace pattern is an 8 row repeat, and isn't too hard to follow. Im using Cascade Sierra in black, from Yarns Online. It's a nice yarn, 80% cotton, but with 20% merino wool, which lessens the crunchiness of the cotton, and gives it a little bounciness.
I got stitch gauge on the recommended needles, but the row gauge is off, and may need some recalculation. However, I will do my best to knit blindly and follow the pattern, rather than resort to the dreaded maths!

Twinkie has lived with my yarn for nearly 3 years now, and has never shown any interest in it whatsoever. Until now.
I went out yesterday morning, and made her come inside the house before left. She didn't want to come inside, she was quite happy, playing in the yard in the Spring sunshine.
So she got me back.

She dragged the plastic bag with the Sierra in it out of the knitting basket, ripped it open and did her best to kill a skein. Fortunately, it's fine, it just has a little added bunny hair now.
Must start hiding the yarn from the bunny when she's cranky.

And in other b-i-g news, we signed the papers on this today.

How lucky can you be and a new car did you see how many balls of wool you can hide in it. My next car will be a car with a real boot for the stash travelling.

wow nice wheels - are you feeling any better?

Hooray for a new car! I'm glad the yarn wasn't actually harmed. Some people say that animals don't think. Apparently, they've never had one that wanted to get even with them for something.

Congrats on the car! I like the color better than mine--but I like everything else about my car, so I guess I can live with it being screaming red. Besides, mine was used, but it's a 2005, so I'm still happy with it, and it was about $10,000 cheaper than the same thing brand new.

Congrats on two great purchases, the car and the yarn!
I got blueberry, iris and mushroom on my zephyr splurge.

Wow, that is a nice car!
I'm looking at getting another car in the near future, Holden's are a good choice. Love the colour too cos we all know that the colour is most important ;)

Yay for the new car and such pretty pretty colours for the lace yarn. I'll have to go and get a bib ready to wipe away the drool when you start knitting all that lace.

Beautiful sky! (sigh) Wish we had the same here in the Northeast. Now as for the little bunner, "No parsley and clover for YOU!" Finally, congrats on the new car. It looks FAB!

Naughty little Twinkie! That sounds like something my bratty cat would do. He is normally so sweet, but if he is grumpy, watch out! His favorite thing to do it to knock plants over.
Hooray for new cars!

Congrats on the new car!

I had a similar yarn problem when our pup chewed up some Wildfoote - only she completely destroyed it!

Nice car, the holden's are looking good in their small cars these days.

I just ordered the pattern for CeCe, it looks great and I have a few skeins of cotton from Bendigo that might just do OK with this pattern.
